Sustainability

Swan Hill North Primary School recognises the importance of sustainability and are an active Resource Smart School.

Our Term 2 Integrated Studies focus was Our Sustainable World, where students looked at all types of topics from plastic pollution, to weather systems and food production.

Ongoing actions our students and staff have implemented to minimise our eco-footprint include:

  • Installation of solar PV & LED lighting

  • Co-mingled & soft plastic recycling

  • Food scraps diverted to worm farm, school chooks & compost

  • Water tanks & use of SWEP software to alert us of water leaks

  • Lunchtime Garden Club

  • Hands On Learning program – involves building with recycled materials, growing and cooking with produce from the garden.

  • Participation in Ride2School & Walk2School initiatives

  • Digital distribution of our newsletter & parent communication where appropriate
